This is a private owned, operated and funded weather station. The station began service in 1997 and current weather updates on Internet in 1999. In the fall of 2001 the station began a full service with posting historical weather data on the web site. Why the Joseph Oregon weather station? Reason was in the past it was very hard to get current weather for Wallowa County and the Joseph & Enterprise area. Still to this day if you use the popular weather web sites to get current weather for Wallowa County it shows LaGrande Oregon weather. People from all over North America view the weather station daily along with some all over the world now and then. This is not the only weather station in the county. You will find US Forest Service stations and Natural Resources Conservation Service stations that cover much of the Federal lands. Wallowa and Imnaha each have a station. Enterprise has 2 stations.
Current station equipment is a Davis Weather Monitor II with a heated rain collector, and a World EyeCam WEC-480 Color Infrared Day/Night Camera. The computer system is a Dell Dimension E521, AMD Athlon Dual Core Processor 64 X2 3800+ 2.0 Ghz with 4 Mb Ram, Windows XP Pro, Weather Display software and with Battery back up for all equipment in the station.
The station is fully automated and data updates every 5 minutes 24 hours a day,
thanks to the Weather Display software.
Hope you find this weather station easy to use and informative.
Should you have any questions or comments about the station,
